1. Activity background Pakistan and China are jointly committed to maintaining and strengthening bilateral close and lasting cooperative relations through cooperation mechanisms at all levels. According to the “Belt and Road” initiative, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, and the “Belt and Road” scientific and technological innovation action plan, China-Pakistan cooperation has great potential, and scientific and technological and economic and trade cooperation are of great significance to the social and economic development of the two countries. In the past few decades, Pakistan and China have jointly adopted a series of measures that benefit the two countries. For example, the recently proposed China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has become the flagship plan of the “Belt and Road” initiative. China and Pakistan are committed to advancing cooperation in resources, science and technology, and talents, to promote beneficial results between the two countries, and to promote the smooth implementation of the "Belt and Road".
From the perspective of Pakistan, China-Pakistan cooperation can effectively improve Pakistan's lagging infrastructure, help Pakistan improve its power supply, promote Pakistan's fisheries, agricultural products, textiles and other products to "go global", and promote Pakistan's major opportunities to get rid of economic difficulties. From the perspective of China, the "China-Pakistan Economic Corridor" will drive a large number of major infrastructure projects along the route such as energy, power, highways, and railways, and promote scientific and technological cooperation and economic development. Through the development of scientific and technological exchanges and trade interactions, it is conducive to promoting the establishment of long-term cooperation mechanisms between Chinese and Pakistani enterprises, accelerating the development of science and technology and economy, and promoting the realization of all-round interconnection, diversification and mutual benefit between the two countries.
2. The basis of cooperation The China International Technology Transfer Center is currently carrying out relevant cooperation with relevant Pakistani government departments, aiming to explore and integrate the resources of both parties. Through the establishment of China-Pakistan technology transfer centers in Islamabad, Pakistan and Beijing, China, to promote bilateral innovation, economic and trade exchanges, and promote China-Pakistan The development of technological innovation and the commercialization of technological products and services in countries along the “Belt and Road” such as Europe, the Middle East and Africa. In addition, the two parties will promote the establishment of a China-Pakistan Science and Technology Park in Islamabad, Pakistan, integrate resources in various aspects such as technology, talent, capital, entrepreneurship, and market, and promote the transformation of scientific and technological achievements in an efficient and sustainable manner.
The China International Technology Transfer Center has actively carried out bilateral cooperation between China and Pakistan in the past year, and promoted continuous pragmatic results in China-Pakistan cooperation. In May 2017, the International Business Opportunity Symposium was held in Lahore, Pakistan. More than 130 Chinese companies participated in the conference and developed projects with Pakistani companies, laying a good start for the continued cooperation between China and Pakistan. In order to expedite the scientific and technological and commercial exchanges and cooperation between Chinese companies and Pakistan, and promote Chinese companies to enter the Pakistan market more easily and better, in September 2017, the center invited Chinese companies that have participated in the Lahore conference in the conference room of the Pakistani Embassy in China. Held the "Chinese High-tech Enterprises Entering Pakistan Seminar" to further explore the direction of China-Pakistan cooperation in the future.
3. Overview of activities It is planned to hold the China-Pakistan Science and Technology Cooperation and Exchange Conference on April 18, 2018, and organize 30 Pakistani technology and business partners to conduct a docking meeting with enterprises and government departments in the scientific and technological innovation, commerce and trade fields in Beijing.
The conference was hosted by Science and Technology Daily, Beidou Silk Road Academy of Beihang University, China International Technology Transfer Center and Pakistan Embassy in China, and sponsored by Jiangsu Yinhuan Group. It is planned to invite important guests such as Sha Zukang, former Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Khalid Masood, Pakistani Ambassador to China, Tang Mengsheng, President of Science and Technology Daily, and Director of the Pakistan Research Center of Peking University. It is planned to invite Pakistan Investment Authority, the Federal Government of Pakistan and local government officials from Punjabi, Lahore, Islamabad, Gwadar and other local governments to attend this meeting and participate in the afternoon business matchmaking meeting.
This event can provide domestic companies with the following opportunities:
1) Meeting with Pakistani officials and potential partners;
2) Looking for Pakistani market channels for Chinese products and services;
3) Strengthen scientific and technological cooperation between Pakistan and Chinese universities and institutes;
4) Further deepen the cooperation between Pakistan and Chinese technology and business partners, and help Chinese companies better understand how to conduct business with Pakistani partners.
